One day after putting up 41 points, Rudy Gay is out with an Achilles injury.
Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay suffered a left Achilles injury in the first quarter Wednesday night against the Houston Rockets. The game's broadcast says he will not return, James Ham of Cowbell Kingdom reports.
It's unclear what specifically caused Gay's injury, but he limped off the court midway through the first period and headed to the locker room during a timeout. Coming off a huge 41-point performance, arguably his best in years, this comes at a pretty frustrating time for the athletic wing.
He played just six minutes on Wednesday, recording four points on 2-of-5 shooting.
Since acquiring Gay from the Toronto Raptors in December, the Kings are an improved (but still underwhelming) 9-11. He's seriously turned up his game, though, averaging 21 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 53 percent from the field and 37 percent from three.
