Darington Hobson and David Stockton have been named RidiculousUpside.com's Top Prospects for the week of March 1st through March 7th.
Both the Santa Cruz Warriors and Reno Bighorns have overcome obstacles this season. As something that has become a common occurrence on the D-League level, each team has watched key contributors drift away to begin playing basketball internationally. The Warriors have lost the likes of Joe Alexander and Ronald Roberts, whereas Brady Heslip left the Bighorns.
But where one door closes, another opens. As such aforementioned players have departed, others have taken advantage of the opportunity at hand to step in and fill the necessary voids.
After being re-acquired by Santa Cruz midseason, Darington Hobson has steadily emerged to help lead his team on what has progressed into an eight game winning streak. Just this past week, he accomplished somewhat of a more unlikely (but even more impressive) feat, logging back-to-back triple doubles. While the Warriors took care of business and logged three victories in the first week of March, Hobson more than carried his weight, averaging 24.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 8.7 assists. He shot an ever efficient 60% from the field.
Returning from playing out a recent ten-day contract with the affiliated Sacramento Kings, David Stockton came back to the Reno Bighorns and provided quite the boost. The son of Basketball Hall of Famer John Stockton averaged 40 points (on 54% from the field), 16 assists, and 5 steals. He tied an NBA D-League record with 22 assists in one contest last week, all the while leading Reno to a 2-0 mark.
For their most recent efforts, Hobson and Stockton collectively double up as RidiculousUpside.com's Top Prospects of the Week for March 1st - March 7th.
As the Warriors and Bighorns each propel towards the postseason, they can only hope each aforementioned player continues to step up in unique fashion to lead the way.
