The Pacers rookie big man is needed back in the big leagues after Lavoy Allen hurt his knee while Whittington was playing in Fort Wayne on Thursday.
Pacers rookie Shayne Whittington took the court with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Thursday to play the first of what was supposed to be two games in the D-League. But after Lavoy Allen suffered a knee injury as the Pacers were putting it on the Knicks, Whittington was called back to Indy to bolster the team's front-court depth.
According to Curt Cavin, Allen had an MRI on Friday and may not be available to play on Saturday when the Pacers host the Sacramento Kings. If Frank Vogel wants to rest Luis Scola for a second game, as planned, then Whittington could find a few minutes off the bench thrown his way.
Whittington played 18 minutes in Fort Wayne's 103-94 loss to the Iowa Energy, scoring five points with four rebounds and one assist. The rook also impressed with his effort, captured here.

For a little good news on the injury front, George Hill took part in the Pacers full practice on Friday. If all goes well coming off the bench on Saturday, Vogel hopes to have Hill back in the starting lineup in the following game against Detroit on Wednesday.
