NBA trade rumors: Cavs, Kings eye Jarrett Jack-Jason Thompson swap

Even a third team could be involved in this 11th hour potential deal.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in talks with the Sacramento Kings to trade guard Jarrett Jack for forward Jason Thompson, according to NBA insider Marc Stein of ESPN.

Sacramento seems intent on adding another point guard to play behind incumbent starter Isaiah Thomas. Jack played for Kings head coach Michael Malone when he was with the Golden State Warriors last season and in New Orleans. During those stints, he had two of the best years of his career.

Thompson is a capable big man who can provide production up front, but the Cavs have a lot of depth in the post, which is why they are seeking a third team to send the big man to. Top overall pick Anthony Bennett is the player who needs the most development, and the Cavs have already invested heavily in him.

Jack is 30 years old and would give the Kings a veteran presence in a disenchanted locker room. The fact that he'd play under Malone means the potential deal make more sense.
